Database Programmer        APPLY

Description

The Database Programmer’s role is to provide custom programming and database development and management services in support of existing and new product designs. The position is an integral part of the Superior Edge product development team.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Develop and integrate specific procedures for loading / transferring data from external sources into our product database records.
2. Update existing product database records with annually updated data. Matching of source records to existing records from year to year is a must.
3. Enhance existing database records with additional data from other third party disconnected sources.
4. Integrate customer specific data records with existing product database.
5. Work directly with software developers and product management to coordinate database changes based on new product designs.
6. Must be able to work overtime as needed.
7. Must be able to travel as required.

Technical Knowledge and Skill Requirements

1. Experience in designing, installing, monitoring, and ongoing support of databases.
2. Detailed technical knowledge of MS SQL 2005/ 2008.
3. Database design and normalization
4. OLTP/OLAP SSAS, SSIS
5. Working understanding of My SQL
6. ANSI SQL
7. Index Tuning
8. Experience in working with very large data sets
9. Demonstrates experience with database optimization strategies.
10. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
11. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
12. Bachelor’s degree in a related area and 0 - 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Desired Knowledge and Skills

1. Knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Web Services, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), MS SQL, and Jboss Application Server.
2. Knowledge of MS SQL Reporting Services.
3. Experience in data federation and or combining of multiple disconnected databases is a plus.
4. Experience working with a multi-tenant environment.
5. Knowledge of Java (J2SE and JDBC), MS SQL.
